There are three versions of this Kruger National Park bush walk tour, which is the major attraction on this overnight safari. You can see the differences below.

Today you’ll fly into a small airport that is actually inside Kruger National Park (flight included in the tour price)! The plane departs Johannesburg mid-morning, and you’ll land in Kruger in less than an hour. Your guide will be waiting for you when you arrive, and literally just a few minutes later, you will be on safari! Please note that the entry fee to Kruger is excluded and will need to be paid when you land.
Although the airport is only a few minutes, through the bush, from the rest camp, we’ll be taking a long detour, to take you for your first game drive through the park. You’ll be touring Kruger in an SUV or sedan, but you do have the option of upgrading to an open air game vehicle. This is more expensive, but is the best way of seeing wildlife. You can select this option when you check out. A sack lunch is provided today, for you to eat in the vehicle or when we get to the camp.
This first safari drive will last about three hours, before we check you into your rondavel at the rest camp. A rondavel is a typical South African rest camp dwelling, with a single room and a thatch roof. All the lodging inside the rest camp is very basic, although all units are air- conditioned, and all have a bathroom with a private shower, toilet and handbasin inside. The beds are all single beds. There are no larger beds available.
You’ll now be going for a game walk out in the wild of Kruger – amongst any animals that happen to be on your trail! Please be aware that this is no zoo, and there are no fences or barricades between you and whatever happens to be out there. You will have two rangers with you, each with a rifle, but otherwise it is just you and the wilderness. Your rangers will inform you about the animals and animal spoor that you come across, and explain the significance of the natural phenomena along the trail. People really enjoy the experience of being out in the wilderness, away from civilization, and the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The game walk will last 2.5 to three hours.
When you get back, you’ll be on your own for dinner (extra cost), at a delightful restaurant perched above a river.
Tomorrow morning you’ll have the opportunity to eat breakfast, or grab a take out, before we hit the road, for an approximately four to five hour safari. You also have the option of taking a ranger led open air game viewing drive before breakfast. This can be ordered at check out, but please be aware that it leaves very early – 4 am in the summer and 5 am in the winter! It is a short walk in the morning from your rondavel to the place the drive leaves from. The game drive will be about three hours, and this will be followed by breakfast (extra cost), and then the regular safari on the way out of the park. If you do the open air game drive, the regular safari will be reduced by about 1.5 hours.
Once we leave Kruger, there is a drive of about 45 minutes to a nearby airport, from where you will fly back to Johannesburg, arriving in the early evening. If you cut back on your activities inside the park today, there is also an option of arriving back a lot earlier. Please let us know if you’d like to consider that.
