On this overnight tour you’ll be flying into a small airport that is actually inside Kruger National Park (flight included in the tour price)! The plane departs Johannesburg mid-morning, and you will be landing in Kruger in less than an hour. Your guide will be waiting for you when you land, and literally just a few minutes later,
you will be on safari! Please note that the entry fee to Kruger is excluded and will need to be paid when you land.
Kruger National Park is a huge park, and we’ll be driving through Kruger on our way to the park’s central region. You’ll be on safari for the next six to seven hours, touring Kruger in an SUV or sedan, but you do have the option of upgrading to an open air game vehicle. This is more expensive, but is the best way of seeing animals. You can select this option when you check out.
We know the best places to find wildlife and we will try and ensure you see as many animals as possible! One of the fun things about Kruger is that you never know what may be around the next corner or behind the next bush.
In order to maximize your time on safari, we provide a sack lunch today, which you can enjoy in the vehicle, or at one of the camps or rest stops.
When we get to our destination, if you’re a real sucker for punishment, there is the option to go back into Kruger for a sunset game drive, in an open air, game viewing vehicle. This option can be ordered at check out, but please note that the availability depends on the time of the year.
There may not be enough time, especially in the winter months, when the park shuts earlier.
Tomorrow morning is the highlight of your trip! You’ll be up before dawn for a five minute transfer to Kruger’s entrance, where two rangers will meet you for your adventure.
Please be aware that you will be biking in the open, with no fences or barricades protecting you, in the same areas where lions and elephants and rhino and buffalo and leopards and giraffe and all Kruger’s other species may be!
The two rangers, known as rifle one and rifle two, carry rifles, and will be with you at all times.
Having said that, there is always a risk of being attacked by wild animals. This is not a zoo. It’s African wilderness at its best.
A game viewing vehicle, towing a trailer with the bikes, will take you out to a remote part of Kruger National Park, on a game drive lasting anywhere from half an hour to an hour. You’ll be the first ones in the park this morning, and will have the best opportunity to see game! The bikes will be offloaded at the trail head, and rifle one will lead you into Kruger’s wilderness on primitive trails.
